MEMPHIS, Tenn. - According to Memphis Light, Gas, and Water (MLGW), a total of 40,000 customers were affected by power outages with the peak number at any one time being 36,613.

Power has been restored to more than 35,000 customers, according to MLGW. MLGW estimates that ninety-eight percent of customers will have their power restored by Monday, April 3 at midnight.

The most substantial infrastructure damage was done in the Perkins and I-240 and the American Way and Getwell neighborhoods, MLGW said.

According to MLGW, seven schools were knocked offline by the storm and are being treated as a priority at this time. Once power is restored to the schools, MLGW will start moving towards neighborhoods and individual houses to restore power.

MLGW has also stated that they are dealing with the largest and most substantially damaged parts of their electrical distribution and transmission system. The repairs made to this system will have the biggest impact on the largest number of customers, according to MLGW.

To report an outage in your area, you can contact MLGW at 901-544-6500.
