PHI deploys two Airbus H175 in Australia helicopters to support offshore energy transport, search and rescue (SAR) and medical evacuation operations.
The helicopters are a significant addition to the company’s growing fleet in Australia, said Cory Latiolais, chief operating officer, Asia Pacific. PHI Aviation. “They elevate our operational capabilities while reinforcing our commitment to sustainable innovation and delivering world-class service to our clients,” he said.
Christian Venzal, MD, Airbus Helicopters in Australia and New Zealand said: “The high performance of the H175 aircraft in the challenging Western Australian environment is an excellent addition for the PHI Aviation fleet, especially with their focus on search and rescue operations, and marine transfers.”
The new helicopters, based in Broome, north western Australia can be reconfigured with hoists for SAR missions or fitted with a medical interior for emergency evacuations from offshore oil rigs. The aircraft join PHI’s multi-type fleet.
PHI operates bases in Broome, Darwin and Exmouth, Australia. Additional H175s expected to join the fleet in the coming months.
Meanwhile, earlier this month PHI MRO Services has signed a strategic supplier agreement with Leonardo. Under the terms of the multi-year agreement, the MRO company will provide specialised services to support Leonardo’s operations, including component shop capabilities.
